Vegan Dream Jerky is a tasty, thin, tough and chewy snack that mimics beef jerky in texture and flavor. It is a much healthier and cruelty-free alternative to beef jerky. It is preservative free and it uses only non-GMO soy. It has 0 grams of fat, 0 grams of cholesterol, and a nice amount of protein (13 grams per jerky). However, if you are watching your sodium intake, don't overindulge yourself, since one ounce has 26% of your recommended daily intake of sodium.
I had a chance to sample all four flavors. The samples were generously donated by Vegan Dream company, with no obligation to write a positive review.
I started with Hot Chili Pepper. The flavor was milder than I expected and it was not too hot. The chilies gave it a nice kick, but it was not bursting with flavor.
The next jerky in line was Teriyaki. I liked that one much better. It had a slightly sweet and pungent flavor and I could really taste the ginger and sesame seeds. The Teriyaki jerky was a bit softer than the Hot Chili Pepper jerky.
The third jerky had a great name "Cowgirl". The taste reminded me of a salty gingerbread cookie. I was a bit confused with this one at first, it was sweet, salty and spicy at the same time, but it had a lot of nice flavor.
The fourth jerky that I tried was Original Hickory Pepper. That was my absolute favorite from all four flavors. It smelled like a bacon and had a strong black pepper taste, with a hint of smokiness. The flavors were perfectly balanced. This jerky was amazing!
Vegan Dream jerky is an excellent snack that you can take with you anywhere. The jerky is drier and chewier than other vegan jerky that I have tried before. It mimics "meaty" texture.
I have some exciting news for people who want to try all four flavors. Vegan Dream company donated some jerky for a giveaway that I will do in few weeks. Stay tuned for more information.
